Ain't Life Grand?


I screwed myself the story goes,
I hid from life's duties and woes,
And now they're back...the time is at hand,
Ain't life grand?

Into my life the past will flood,
This isn't the time for facing all this crud,
My life seemed together...time to strike up the band,
Ain't life grand?

The wait is through, the time is here,
Shirked responsibility I did, out of fear,
Sleepless nights spent in a destitute land,
Ain't life grand?

So here I sit...depressed as all hell,
She's back in my life, screaming her banshee yell,
Either I go forward or sink into the sand,
Damn, ain't life grand?
