Cardboard Box

It all came back in a box,
Everything we had ever made,
Scraps of paper and notes of love,
Coming to my door, because I went away.

It all came back in a box,
Gifts I gave and mementos saved,
I never wanted it to end this way,
Coming to my door, with nothing to say.

It all came back in a box,
Pictures, books and things,
I deserve it thrown back in my face,
Given with love but showing up at my door, today.

It all came back in a box,
I can't talk to you about the things you saved,
Looking on the past contained within paper walls,
Dreaming of a memory that should have been made.
