Knowing
When a relationship of love tumbles down,
It's hard to let go of all the feelings...memories,
We want to hold on to what was there,
Trying to put it back together again,
Scrambling to pick up the pieces of our hearts.
When someone doesn't want you anymore,
It's painful to accept that they have moved on,
Your heart is in the same place it was before,
They want someone else and it rips into your insides,
You want to take them back, and hold them.
Many have traveled this way before,
It doesn't make it easier though, letting go,
Turning love loose to explore new horizons and stormy seas,
Realizing that it didn't turn out the way you wanted it to be,
Knowing the good times and the bad are carved into the past.
Knowing what you know, you still feel the pain,
We still dream of sleeping with them in our arms,
Of being with them, in that way, feeling as one with their heart,
Trying not to think of them sharing that with another,
Having to move on, but remembering what once was…everyday.
