Leavin'

Leavin' you was easy,
All it took was a hurried lie,
Some "raz-ma-taz" and "poof",
Away I went in the wink of an eye.

Thought I had it on the ball,
A new date for a different day,
Left for new horizons,
Breakin' your heart on the way.

Got a taste of bitter medicine,
My own "jive" thrown back in my face,
Lookin' back it seems like folly,
Tryin' to get to that old place.

Asked to come back,
Begged, pleaded and cajoled,
I don't blame you one bit,
When you told me to "get lost" and all.

Now I'm here layin' alone,
This bed is mighty cold,
I got what I deserved in the end,
Leavin' you, then tryin' to come home.
