Remembrance
Going back in my heart to memories unfaded,
Things I remember, what once was,
Of little green bugs and ribbin' you 'cause you look like Jeannie,
Jokes and teasing that brought our hearts close.
Sitting and talking for hours on end, I remember...
Sayin' I was sweetest person you had ever known,
The sky so blue as we laid on the grass together,
Memories that remain, though we are no longer one.
Eating smoked oysters and nights in a big tub,
My eyes fill with tears as I look back in my heart and mind,
You're out with another, "special" means nothing it seems,
The bleachers are cold, as they echo with words untold.
The heart can only take so many faded dreams,
They dance around like fireflies,
Remembering all the good things that brought me to you,
Never forgetting what I had, hoping that you remember too...
