Ship of Liberty

Welded steel, laid down quick,
Sections slapped together, lickety-split.

From Kaiser's mill her body is forged,
Day by day...down stocks they roar.

Launched one-a-day, for victory we strive,
Load up the holds, those supplies will arrive.

Across the waves her prow cuts slow,
Beware the wolves...that lurk below.

Here come the tanks, planes and guns the Allies need,
Fighting evil...that twisted crosses and rising suns do breed.

Give her the job, the battle she will win,
No shore unreachable, in war's dark din.

Day and night, plying her trade,
Torpedoes she braves...to save what democracy has made.

Churning water from her propeller shines,
A ship of liberty wins the War...when she casts off her lines.
