When It's Done
When cruelty blackens the heart,
It creates hardness to the past,
Shattering what was so beautiful,
Destroying love and throwing it into the dark abyss.
When left to fend for emotional self,
Clutching for words and phrases that once were,
The world doesn't ever seem the way it was,
Wondering why, but knowing the answer.
So much said but taken from the soul in a rush,
Many questions lay like wilted petals trampled,
Understanding the heart might clutch another,
Writhing in wonderment that you were not the one.
